Leicester Caribbean Carnival

photos taken by my crappy mobile...

Leicester Caribbean Carnival is an annual event, to be held on first Saturday of every August in Leicester. The community-organised carnival has been held annually since 1985 (except 2006) on the first Saturday in August, with a parade around the city of Leicester, ending with an event on Victoria Park. It is the second-largest Caribbean carnival in the UK, after the Notting Hill Carnival!

From editor:- I attended this event and was taken with the colourful display, hundreds of people made a lot of effort to dress up & participating in this big celebration with music and dancing. Although i was stone deaf,  I could still feel the beat of the music from the bands as they passed by, it was a lovely atmosphere to be involved with. I look forward to next year's carnival already!

The Carnival Day is always celebrated at Victoria Park on the first Saturday in August to coincide with the anniversary of the emancipation from slavery.
